Merging location contacts

2 minute read

Occasionally a location contact may need to be joined with another to become a new entity, such as when an NHS authority merges with another, perhaps with a new name. CareHQ allows location contacts to be merged in a single action, simplifying this process.

This article covers how to merge two or more location contacts into a single new contact.

Good to know

Selecting a location contact and merging another into it is a great way to move all messages, invoices, billing contracts and receipts into the original location contact with minimal effort, but keep in mind that the merged location contact will be deleted afterwards.

This action cannot be undone, so proceed only if confident that the merge is necessary.

How to merge location contacts

To merge location contacts, follow the steps below:

  • From the main navigation menu, select Contacts and then Location contacts.
  • From the list, select the location contact you wish to merge with another.
  • Select the Merge with... action from the top of the page.
  • Start typing the name of the location contact you want to be merged with your initially selected location contact, then select the name when it is displayed.
  • Select the Merge button to confirm.

The above steps can be repeated if necessary to join other location contacts with those already merged.

The resulting new combined location contact can also be renamed if required, and the account code can be amended if appropriate. To do this:

  • Return to the Location contacts list as above, and select the location contact.
  • Select the Update action from the top of the page.
  • Edit the Company name, Account code and any other details as required, then select Save.
