How to cancel or reschedule a home visit
Sometimes a planned home visit by a care seeker doesn't go ahead; the visit may need to be postponed and rescheduled, or possibly cancelled altogether, depending on circumstances.
This article covers how to cancel or reschedule a home visit, even if the visit has automatically completed due to the planned visit time passing.
By default the home visit stage of a care enquiry, once scheduled, will be automatically marked as complete one hour after the visit time set in CareHQ. This is to help keep the enquiry process flowing as the next stage, arranging an assessment, is then highlighted (and a related action automatically created).

How to cancel a home visit
If a new visit time cannot be arranged for any reason, the planned visit can be cancelled. Follow the steps below.
- Select Care enquiries from the main navigation menu, then find and select the appropriate care enquiry.
If the visit has not yet completed:
- A Visit booked banner will be displayed near the top of the page. From this banner, select Cancel.
- Select Cancel once more to confirm.
If the visit has automatically completed:
- Select the History tab from the top of the care enquiry page.
- In the Home visits section, select the recent home visit.
- Select the Cancel action at the top of the page, then select Cancel once more to confirm.
How to reschedule a home visit
If you're able to arrange a new visit time with the care seeker, follow these steps to set a new visit in CareHQ.
- Select Care enquiries from the main navigation menu, then find and select the appropriate care enquiry.
If the visit has not yet completed:
- A Visit booked banner will be displayed near the top of the page. From this banner, select Rearrange.
- Update the visit details as required, then select Save.
If the visit has automatically completed:
- Select the History tab from the top of the care enquiry page.
- In the Home visits section, select the recent home visit.
- Select the Cancel action at the top of the page, then select Cancel once more to confirm.
- Back on the Details tab for the care enquiry, select Book visit, then complete the visit details and Save.
